Rewards Rates
The MBNA Rewards Platinum Plus Mastercard earns MBNA Rewards points for all purchases made on the card:
- 2 MBNA Rewards points for every dollar spent on restaurant, grocery, digital media, memberships, and household utility purchases (up to $10,000 in annual purchases per category).
- 1 MBNA Rewards point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
Redeeming MBNA Rewards Points
MBNA Rewards points are best redeemed for travel purchases, as you will receive the maximum value of 100 MBNA Rewards points for $1 in value when booking through the MBNA Rewards Travel Portal.
Redeeming MBNA Rewards points for cash and charity donations can be done at a ratio of 120 MBNA Rewards points for $1 in value. MBNA Rewards points can also be redeemed for merchandise and gift cards at varying rates.

MBNA Rewards Birthday Bonus
MBNA Rewards Platinum Plus Mastercard cardholders will receive 10% of their MBNA Rewards points earned over the past 12 months on their birthday, up to a maximum of 10,000 MBNA Rewards points.
Avis Rent A Car & Budget Rent A Car Discounts
MBNA Rewards Platinum Plus cardholders can receive a minimum of 10% off the base rates in Canada and the United States, and a minimum of 5% off the base rates internationally on qualifying car rentals at participating Avis & Budget locations.
Insurance Coverage
The MBNA Rewards Platinum Plus Mastercard offers three types of insurance coverage:
- Mobile device insurance: $1,000 coverage for theft, loss, or accidental damage to your mobile device
- Extended warranty: Extend the manufacturer’s original warranty up to one additional year
- Purchase assurance: Coverage for accidental physical damage or theft for 90 days from the date of purchase (up to $60,000 per account lifetime)
