National Bank World Mastercard

The National Bank World Mastercard earns up to 2 À la Carte Rewards points on all purchases.

Rewards Rates

The National Bank World Mastercard earns À la carte rewards points for all purchases made on the card:

  • 1.25 À la carte rewards points for every dollar spent on the first $20,000 in purchases during a cardholder year.
  • 2 À la carte rewards points for every dollar spent between $20,000 and $30,000 in net spend during a cardholder year.
  • 1.25 À la carte rewards points for every dollar spent on any purchases once the cardholder has spent $30,000 during a cardholder year.

Redeeming À la Carte Rewards Points

À la Carte Rewards points should be redeemed for travel purchases, as the best value for À la carte rewards points is to redeem them against travel purchases made through the À la carte rewards travel agency, as points will be worth 1 cent per point with this redemption option.

A close second is to redeem them against travel you have booked on your own, as points will be worth 0.833 cents per point with this redemption option.

Points can also be redeemed for statement credits, contributions to an investment account, gift cards, or merchandise, but these are much lower-value redemption options compared to using your points for travel.

Insurance Coverage

The National Bank World Mastercard offers several types of insurance coverage:

  • Emergency medical insurance: Coverage of up to $5,000,000 for the first 60 days of any out-of-province trips for travelers aged 54 and under; or the first 31 days for those aged 55 to 64; or the first 15 days for those aged 65 to 75 (if the length of trip exceeds the maximum number of covered days, no coverage is offered for that trip)
  • Trip cancellation insurance: Up to $2,500 per person
  • Trip interruption insurance: Up to $5,000 per person
  • Flight delay insurance: Up to $500 per person on a minimum 4-hour delay
