The Secured Tims® Mastercard helps customers build their credit history while earning Tims Rewards points. With a minimum security fund deposit of $50, this card earns you points everywhere you shop.
Earning Tims Rewards
With the Secured Tims® Mastercard, you’ll earn Tims Rewards points at the following rates:
- Up to 12 Tims Rewards points for every dollar spent at Tim Hortons® when you scan for Tims® Rewards.
- 2 Tims Rewards points for every dollar spent on groceries, gas, EV charging, transit, taxi, and rideshare purchases.
- 1 Tims Rewards point for every four dollars spent on all other purchases.
Note that the 12 points per dollar spent earning rate includes the rewards earned from scanning the Tims Rewards app. The earn rate from just the Secured Tims Mastercard is 2 points per $1. Tims Rewards points are valued at approximately 0.5 CPP, which amounts to a 1% return on spending.
Redeeming Tims Rewards
You can redeem Tims Rewards points for your favorite Tim Hortons menu items. You can also use Tims Rewards points to lower the balance of your current billing cycle by redeeming for statement credit (up to $45 in statement credit every week).
When redeemed for items on the Tim Horton’s menu, the redemption value ranges from 0.34 to 0.66 cents each, as displayed in the table below for a selection of popular menu items:

Insurance Coverage
The Secured Tims Mastercard offers the following types of insurance coverage:
- Purchase protection: Coverage for accidental physical damage or theft for 90 days from the date of purchase
- Extended warranty: Extend the manufacturer’s original warranty up to one additional year
