Customers who open a new BMO Performance Chequing Account can earn up to $900 in cash:
- Earn $700: Open and fund a new BMO Performance Chequing Account by August 6, 2026. Set up a recurring direct deposit of $500 or more from your employer, the government, or your pension, and have the first deposit appear by September 30, 2026. Complete one of two qualifying criteria by September 30, 2026:
- Make two eligible online bill payments of at least $50 to two different payees through BMO Online Banking or the BMO Mobile Banking app
- Set up two eligible pre-authorized debits of at least $50 to two different payees

Account Features
The BMO Performance Chequing account offers unlimited transactions, including unlimited Interac e-Transfer transactions.
Account holders are eligible to receive free withdrawals at BMO ATMs and up to one free withdrawal at a non-BMO ATM in Canada per month. Past that, ATM withdrawals are charged at a rate of $2 each in Canada, $5 each in the United States, and $5 each outside Canada and the United States.
Performance account holders also receive free BMO Global Money Transfers when sending funds quickly and securely to up to 50 countries (regions) in multiple currencies.
BMO Performance Chequing account holders who are also the primary cardholder of an eligible BMO personal credit card can receive up to a $40 annual fee rebate each calendar year. This annual fee rebate will occur once, even if you hold multiple BMO credit cards.
Credit cards that are eligible for this rebate include the BMO CashBack World Elite Mastercard, BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard, BMO CashBack World Mastercard, BMO Affinity CashBack World Mastercard, BMO eclipse Visa Infinite card, BMO VIPorter Mastercard, BMO VIPorter World Mastercard, or the BMO VIPorter World Elite Mastercard.

Monthly Fees
The BMO Performance Chequing account has a monthly fee of $17.95, which is waived if you hold a minimum balance of $4,000 in your BMO bank account at all times.

Eligibility criteria (open account or switching eligibility): If you meet the eligibility criteria, the Chequing Account and My Financial Progress cash bonus will be credited to your account by October 31, 2026. The Savings Account cash bonus will be credited by April 30, 2027.
Unfortunately if you already have a chequing account with us from May 21, 2025 to August 6, 2026 you are not eligible for this promotion.
If you close your account before August 6, 2027, you will not be eligible for this promotion.
Each bill payment is required to be paid to a different biller account number. For example, if you are paying a cell phone bill it has to be paid to different accounts numbers to be counted as 2 different bill payments.
