Earning BMO Rewards Points
The BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard earns BMO Rewards points for all purchases made on the card:
- 5 BMO Rewards points for every dollar spent on eligible travel purchases (up to $15,000 in purchases during a calendar year).
- 3 BMO Rewards points for every dollar spent on dining, entertainment, and recurring bill payment purchases (up to $10,000 in spend in each category per calendar year).
- 1 BMO Rewards point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
Once the cardholder reaches the threshold stated above for each category, all future purchases will earn 1 BMO Rewards point per dollar spent.
Redeeming BMO Rewards Points
BMO Rewards points are best used for travel purchases that are booked through the BMO Travel Portal. When redeeming BMO Rewards points towards bookings made through the travel portal, the redemption rate is 150 BMO Rewards points = $1 CAD.
There are additional redemption options including merchandise, gift cards, a statement credit, or cash investment in a BMO investment account. However, if you want to maximize the value of your BMO Rewards points, you should only redeem them for travel.

4 Airport Lounge Passes
BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard cardholders are eligible to receive a complimentary membership to Mastercard Travel Pass (powered by the Dragonpass lounge program), in addition to four complimentary airport lounge passes.
The DragonPass airport lounge program includes over 1,300 lounges worldwide, making it easy for the cardholder and their guests to find a lounge before their next flight.
$200 NEXUS Credit
Cardholders are eligible to receive a $200 credit towards membership in the NEXUS program. This credit is available in the first year of holding the card.
Instacart+ & Monthly $10 Credit
Cardholders who enroll their BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard can enjoy six months of Instacart+ and a $10 monthly Instacart credit.

Insurance Coverage
The BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard offer several types of insurance coverage:
- Out-of-province or country emergency medical insurance: $5,000,000 coverage for the first 21 days of any out-of-province trips for travelers aged 64 or under
- Common carrier insurance: $500,000 of accidental death and dismemberment coverage
- Trip cancellation insurance: $1,500 per covered person per trip, up to an overall $5,000 maximum
- Trip interruption & trip delay insurance: $2,000 per covered person per trip, up to an overall $10,000 maximum
- Rental car collision and loss damage insurance: Comprehensive coverage for cars up to $65,000 MSRP
- Lost, stolen, or damaged baggage insurance: $500 per person coverage for emergency purchases when your baggage is lost or delayed, up to an overall maximum of $1,000 per trip
- Baggage delay insurance: $500 per person coverage for emergency purchases when your baggage is lost or delayed, up to an overall maximum of $1,000 per trip
- Flight delay insurance: $500 per trip for all insured persons combined in the event of a flight delay of more than four hours
- Hotel burglary insurance: $1,000 coverage for stolen items per occurrence
- Purchase security: Coverage for accidental physical damage or theft for 90 days from the date of purchase
- Extended warranty insurance: Extend the manufacturer’s original warranty up to one additional year
