Earning Chase Ultimate Rewards
The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points for all purchases made on the card:
- 5 Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar spent on travel purchased through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal.
- 3 Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar spent on dining (including eligible delivery services, takeout, and dining out), online grocery purchases (excluding Target, Walmart, and wholesale clubs), select streaming services, gas, EV charging, and vacation home rentals (booked through Airbnb, Vrbo, Plum Guide, HomeAway, Homestay, and Vacasa).
- 2 Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar spent on all other travel purchases.
- 1 Ultimate Rewards point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
Redeeming Chase Ultimate Rewards
If you want to maximize their value, Chase Ultimate Rewards points are best used when they are transferred to one of the various frequent flyer and hotel loyalty programs that are available to be redeemed towards a future flight or hotel booking.
Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to frequent flyer programs at the following rates:
- Aer Lingus at a 1:1 ratio
- Air Canada Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio
- Air France / KLM Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio
- British Airways Avios at a 1:1 ratio
- Emirates Skywards at a 1:1 ratio
- Iberia Plus at a 1:1 ratio
- JetBlue TrueBlue at a 1:1 ratio
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer at a 1:1 ratio
- Southwest Airlines at a 1:1 ratio
- United MileagePlus at a 1:1 ratio
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club at a 1:1 ratio
Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to hotel loyalty programs at the following rates:
- IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio
- Marriott Bonvoy at a 1:1 ratio
- World of Hyatt at a 4:3 ratio
Chase Ultimate Rewards can also be redeemed as cashback, for gift cards, or for travel booked via the Chase Travel Portal. While these redemption options may make sense based on your personal situation, they are almost always of lower value than transferring to a travel partner.
Benefits
$100 Chase Travel Hotel Credit
Cardholders are eligible to receive up to a $100 USD statement credit for hotel stays that are purchased through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal. This credit can be applied once per cardholder anniversary year.
Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Credit
Cardholders are eligible to receive a statement credit towards a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck membership (initial application fee or renewal). Cardholders are eligible to receive up to a $120 USD statement credit towards Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. This credit will refresh every four years.
Complimentary Apple TV Membership
Cardholders will receive a complimentary one-year Apple TV subscription worth up to $156 USD. Cardholders must enroll through Chase Benefits & Rewards and link an Apple ID by Dec. 31, 2026.
