Do you know if those credit works in Canada. Example StubHub, Open table food credit, and the door dash? Or we must use it at the stores in the US. Thank you. Just want to see if this card is worth it for Canadians.
Hi Patrick,
It depends on the credit. Some like Apple TV should work fine. Meanwhile Lyft and Uber both can support adding the US credits, but the credits can only be used physically for rides in the USA. I imagine DoorDash is the same. I am not sure about StubHub you may have to do some digging online to see what others have experienced.
Adding to Reed’s comment, I think Stubhub would work if you use the US site (as you can still buy tickets for Canadian events) but I don’t have any experience myself. You could also cash out the credit for decent value by purchasing a ticket for an event on Stubhub and then re-listing and re-selling it for cheaper on Stubhub with a slight loss.
Do i get all the benefits if I get this card in Canada? For example, insurances, travel credits etc. I have heard only US residents will get insurance?
And does grocery have 3x points or is it dining only?
Hi Fahad,
You get travel credits, but insurances are trickier. Its hard to say for certain without dissecting the T&C of insurance certificates on the card. Even then, being a nonresident is a probably a pretty easy reason for insurance companies to get out of compensating you. My approach: if I had a purchase on a Chase card I needed to make a claim for, I’d go for it and see what comes of it, but if I anticipated a significant purchase where I might need to use insurance, I would probably not take the chance and use a Canadian credit card instead. Pertinent example: I wouldn’t use a US credit card for a car rental to decline the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).
Hope that is at least a bit helpful!
