The Atmos Rewards loyalty program is the frequent flyer program for both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. Previously known as the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, the Atmos Rewards program offers significant value to miles and points enthusiasts who want to travel in premium cabins with any of the available partner airlines.
Let’s look at the most effective ways to earn and redeem within the Atmos Rewards program.
Acquiring Atmos Rewards Points
The main ways to earn Atmos Rewards points include flying on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and their airline partners, credit card bonuses, and credit card spending.
Atmos Rewards points can also be purchased, converted from Marriott Bonvoy points, earned through other travel partners, and via retail purchases made on the Atmos Shopping Rewards portal.
Fly on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines
As with most frequent flyer programs, the most straightforward way to earn Atmos Rewards points is to fly on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines flights. The points earned are based on the miles flown combined with the fare class that was purchased.
There are two separate earning charts based on how the flight was booked. For flights on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines that were booked through alaskaair.com, the following chart applies:

On the other hand, the following chart applies to any Hawaiian Airlines flights that were booked through hawaiianairlines.com:

View the Atmos Rewards points earning charts for cash flights for more details.
Fly on Airline Partners
Atmos Rewards points can also be earned from flying on partner airlines, including those partners who are members of the oneworld Alliance. Atmos Rewards points are based on the distance flown combined with the multiplier of the fare class that was purchased.
There are over 30 partner airlines with whom you can earn Atmos Rewards points and Atmos Status points, including popular carriers like Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Japan Airlines.
The Atmos Rewards points earning chart for partner flights booked on Alaska is as follows:
| Fare Class | Base Points Earned | Bonus Points Earned | Status Points Earned |
|---|---|---|---|
| International First | 100% | 250% | 350% |
| International Business | 100% | 150% | 250% |
| Domestic First | 100% | 50% | 150% |
| Premium Economy | 100% | 50% | 150% |
| Economy | 100% | 0% | 100% |
| Discount Economy | 100% | 0% | 100% |
There is also a separate chart for partner flights that are booked via the partner’s site, which is as follows:
| Fare Class | Base Points Earned | Bonus Points Earned | Status Points Earned |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | 100% | 50% | 150% |
| Business | 100% | 25% | 125% |
| Premium Economy | 100% | 0% | 100% |
| Economy | 50% | 0% | 50% |
| Discount Economy | 25% | 0% | 25% |
Earning Atmos Rewards Points via Welcome Bonuses
Unfortunately, there are no credit cards in Canada that earn Atmos Rewards points directly.
If you are a Canadian who has the ability to get US credit cards, Bank of America in the United States offers three co-branded Atmos Rewards credit cards.
The Bank of America Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature Card offers a welcome bonus of up to 60,000 Atmos Rewards points for a reasonable annual fee of $95 USD.
The Bank of America Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature Card earns 3 Atmos Rewards points on Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases, plus one free checked bag and preferred boarding when flying with either airline.

While US residents won’t have any issues being approved for these cards, know that it is possible to sign up for Bank of America cards as a Canadian, provided you have an ITIN and are able to go into a Bank of America branch to apply.
Earning Atmos Rewards Points via Daily Spending
You can also earn Atmos Rewards points for all purchases made on eligible co-branded Atmos Rewards credit cards, at different earning rates depending on the category of spend.
We’ve summarized the Atmos Rewards points earning rate for all eligible credit cards below:
- Bank of America Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature Card & Bank of America Atmos Rewards Visa Signature Business Card
- Earn 3 Atmos Rewards points for every dollar spent on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases, such as flight bookings
- Earn 2 Atmos Rewards points for every dollar spent on eligible gas, EV charging station, streaming services, and local transit purchases
- Earn 1 Atmos Rewards point for every dollar spent on all other purchases
- Bank of America Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Card
- Earn 3 Atmos Rewards points for every dollar spent on eligible Alaska Airlines purchases, Hawaiian Airlines purchases, dining, and foreign purchases
- Earn 1 Atmos Rewards point for every dollar spent on all other purchases
The Bank of America Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Card is the most interesting option, especially with its 3x earning rate on dining and foreign purchases. This means that if you are able to obtain this card as a Canadian, you will earn the accelerated rate on all purchases made in Canada.
Purchase Atmos Rewards Points
If you are looking to top up your Atmos Rewards balance, loyalty program members are able to purchase points at a cost of 3.5 cents USD per point (before tax).

Atmos Rewards program members are able to purchase up to 150,000 Atmos points in a calendar year. For those who hold Atmos Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Titanium elite status, there is no limit on how many points you can purchase in a calendar year.
Important to note that if you are purchasing miles, it is strongly recommended to use a US credit card; otherwise, you will be charged GST/HST on top of the transaction if you are purchasing as a Canadian.
While our main recommendation for purchasing points would be topping up your balance to make a redemption, there is a use case for buying points outright instead of purchasing a cash fare if the math makes sense and you can find the flight availability you need. You can purchase Atmos Rewards points here.
Convert Marriott Bonvoy Points
Compared to other airline loyalty programs, there are not many options to accrue Atmos Rewards points through transferring from other rewards programs.
Marriott Bonvoy members can choose to convert their Bonvoy points to Atmos Rewards points at a rate of 3:1. However, Marriott will add an additional 5,000 airline miles for every 60,000 Bonvoy points converted. This means that the best value is to convert 60,000 Bonvoy to 25,000 Atmos points.
Using your Bonvoy points in this manner can be a great method to further increase your Atmos Rewards balance for your flight redemption. However, it wouldn’t be the best call to mindlessly convert all of your Bonvoy points to Atmos Rewards without a plan in mind.
You can transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to Atmos Rewards points here. You can see the current transfer ratios, including any bonus promotions, by viewing our Miles & Points Transfer Partner Tool.
Book with Travel Partners
Atmos Rewards members can earn Atmos points for hotel bookings and cruise bookings. The earning rates vary depending on the partner you are booking with. You can learn more about earning Atmos points with hotel and cruise partners here.
In addition to hotels and cruises, Atmos Rewards members can earn Atmos Reward points for booking rental cars with partners such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, and more. Points are typically earned based on how many days you have the rental car. You can learn more about earning Atmos Rewards points with rental cars here.
Atmos Shopping Rewards Portal
Through the Atmos Shopping Rewards portal, members can earn Atmos Rewards points when making online purchases. Similar to other portals, users will sign into their Atmos Rewards account and then click through to the desired retailer to complete their purchase. Points will be deposited in their account after the purchase has been verified.

The only caveat is that this portal is designed for US residents since Atmos Rewards is a US-focused loyalty program. This means that Canadians may have a hard time taking advantage of earning through this portal since many retailers use different domains or even websites for different geographic locations.

Redeeming Atmos Rewards Points
Atmos Rewards points can be redeemed for flights on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and on Oneworld Alliance and other partner airlines. There are also some excellent sweet spots available when it comes to redeeming Atmos Rewards points for maximum value.
Before you book, consider reading about the best practices when making flight award redemptions.
How To Redeem Atmos Rewards Points for Flights
Redeeming your Atmos Rewards points is straightforward thanks to the straightforward booking tool. Sign in to your Atmos Rewards account and access the search tool. Ensure you click the “Use points” button; many routes will show as invalid if you do not select this box.

Once you are on the next screen, you will see all of the available routes to the desired destination on the selected date. If nothing is of interest, it is very easy to switch through dates by selecting another date at the top of the screen. You can also sort by various conditions, such as price and flight duration.

In the example search above, Qatar Airways dynamically prices its award chart, which results in a significant difference in mileage cost for the two similar itineraries.
Once you decide on the class of service you are redeeming for, simply select that button, and finalize the booking process by entering your personal details and credit card for payment. Similar to other airline programs, you will pay just the taxes and fees on your award ticket.
When you are making a redemption, it is important to note that on many results, you may see a symbol that looks like this:

This is a symbol that identifies a mixed cabin redemption. This means that the entire itinerary is not in the selected class of service. If you click on the symbol, you will receive a pop-up similar to the one below:

This pop-up will tell you how the itinerary is split based on the class of service. Sometimes, mixed cabin itineraries are of no concern, like the one above. Other times, it may have you in business class for a one-hour flight and then economy for the 14-hour flight. Always double-check any mixed cabin redemptions before finalizing the transaction.
Atmos Rewards Flight Award Chart
Atmos Rewards publishes distance-based award charts for all possible travel options from one region to another region. Since the award charts are distance-based, members will need to calculate the total distance that they would be traveling on their desired itinerary.
Their reward charts show the per-passenger, per-direction of travel cost for a ticket in the specified cabin class. For example, the award chart for travel to or from the US to the Asia Pacific region on partner airlines, such as Cathay Pacific or Japan Airlines, is as below:

Atmos Rewards also publishes a simplified award chart for redemptions on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines flights within North America:

If you want to dig a bit deeper to understand how many points your next redemption will cost, view the Atmos Rewards flight award charts for more details.
Atmos Rewards Free Stopover on International Award Tickets
Of note, Atmos Rewards lets members book a free stopover on international award tickets, even if they are booked as a one-way. It is important to remember that you are allowed to have one partner airline coupled with Alaska Airlines flights on an award redemption itinerary, and as a result, your options for valid stopovers may be limited.
Additionally, any international stopovers can only be at the hub of the partner airline. For example, if you were flying on Cathay Pacific, you would only be allowed to stop over in Hong Kong on your way to elsewhere in Asia.
If you want to take advantage of booking a stopover, use the “multi-city” booking option when searching for your desired stopover and destination.
Atmos Rewards Elite Status
Members within the Atmos Rewards program can work towards earning elite status that grants exclusive perks and benefits when flying on Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, as well as other Oneworld Alliance airlines and partner airlines.
Members can earn Atmos Rewards Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium status as they accrue status points.

Atmos Rewards status levels are achieved by reaching specific levels of Status Points, which are earned from revenue fares, award fares, and spending on credit cards
| Atmos Rewards Status Level | Status Points Required |
|---|---|
| Atmos Silver (includes oneworld Ruby Status) | 20,000 |
| Atmos Gold (includes oneworld Sapphire Status) | 40,000 |
| Atmos Platinum (includes oneworld Emerald Status) | 75,000 (80,000 in 2026) |
| Atmos Titanium (includes oneworld Emerald Status) | 100,000 (135,000 in 2026) |
You can qualify for status alternatively through the Atmos Rewards ‘Status Match Challenge’, which allows you to leverage status with another airline program, for example, Aeroplan, to acquire a similar status level with Atmos Rewards for 90 days.
To retain the status beyond 90 days, you will have to earn base points by flying on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines flights within 90 days of approval:
- Atmos Silver — 5,000 base points earned
- Atmos Gold — 10,000 base points earned
- Atmos Platinum — 20,000 base points earned
Obtaining status through a status match, if you qualify, is definitely an easier feat than through the regular qualification method.
