Insurance Coverage

The Neo Cathay World Elite Mastercard offers several types of insurance coverage:

  • Travel emergency medical: Coverage for the first 14 days of any out-of-province trips for travelers under the age of 60
  • Trip interruption/cancellation: $1,000 coverage, maximum of $5,000 aggregate coverage per trip
  • Flight delay insurance: $250 per day for reasonable and necessary expenses, up to an overall maximum of $500 per occurrence
  • Delayed baggage insurance: $1,000 coverage for emergency purchases when your baggage is delayed
  • Lost baggage insurance: $1,000 coverage when baggage is lost or damaged
  • Rental car collision and loss damage coverage: Comprehensive coverage for cars up to $65,000 MSRP
  • Hotel and motel burglary insurance: $1,000 coverage for stolen items per occurrence
  • Purchase protection: Coverage for accidental physical damage or theft for 90 days from the date of purchase
  • Extended warranty insurance: Extend the manufacturer’s original warranty up to one additional year

  1. Neo did not credit the cathay pacific points upon card activation nor on reaching the 5k spend threshold (within 45 days of the 90). I have since closed the account requested the FYF fee to be reimbursed.

  2. Hello and thanks for your article. I read the Insurance Certificate page and it states ‘The full cost of the applicable purchase must be made with the eligible card’. In my case, I will be booking an award ticket on Cathay Pacific using Asia Miles and I’m only charging the Taxes/Fuel Surcharge on the Neo Cathay WE Mastercard. If this is the case, would I be covered for Trip Cancellation and Emergency Medical during the trip?

      We actually have an article on this exact topic here. Typically, if it says the full cost must be charged to the card for the cardholder to be eligible for coverage, most likely coverage will not apply on award tickets.
