Benefits
American Express Marriott Bonvoy Business cardholders are eligible to receive a range of hotel benefits within the Marriott Bonvoy program.
Upon reaching the card anniversary date, the cardholder will receive an annual free night award to be used at Marriott properties. This free night award, worth 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, is only awarded after you hold the card for one year, and every anniversary year thereafter. The Marriott Bonvoy annual free night award can be redeemed at all participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and can be topped up with up to 15,000 Bonvoy points, making the certificate worth a potential value of 50,000 Bonvoy points (see some of the best hotels in North America to redeem your free night certificate).
Once approved for the Marriott Bonvoy personal card, the cardholder will receive an automatic status upgrade to Marriott Silver Elite status. Unfortunately, Silver Elite status does not come with any truly notable benefits. Cardholders are eligible to be upgraded to Gold Elite status once they stay 10 nights at Marriott properties within one calendar year, or alternatively when they charge $30,000 in purchases to the card within a calendar year.
Upon approval, and again at the start of every calendar year, cardholders will receive 15 elite nights which can put you on the fast track to Marriott Platinum status. These nights are credited to the linked Marriott Bonvoy account and count towards earning yearly Bonvoy elite status and Marriott Bonvoy lifetime status.

If I had a personal Bonvoy Amex earlier this year and cancelled it. Will I still receive the 15 elite nights if I apply for the business Bonvoy?
Hi Wendy,
For Canadian American Express Marriott Bonvoy credit cards (both Personal & Business) you are eligible to receive 15 elite qualifying nights total per calendar year. This means if you already received 15 EQN from the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Personal credit card, you will not receive an additional 15 nights on the Business version of the card. You would receive 15 EQN at the start of 2024, provided you are still holding the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business card at that time.
