Earning British Airways Avios
The Chase Iberia Visa credit card accrues Iberia Plus Avios for all purchases made on the card:
- 3 Avios points for every dollar spent on Iberia, British Airways, and Aer Lingus flight purchases.
- 2 Avios points for every dollar spent on hotel accommodations booked directly with the hotel.
- 1 Avios point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
Redeeming British Airways Avios
British Airways Avios is a valuable frequent flyer program currency that is best used when redeemed for award flights. Members can also combine Avios balances through the British Airways Household Account feature.
Since British Airways is part of the oneworld airline alliance, Avios can be redeemed for several desirable partner airlines, including options such as Qatar Airways QSuites, Japan Airlines business class, and Aer Lingus business class.
British Airways Avios can be transferred back and forth to the other frequent flyer programs at a 1:1 ratio:
- Qatar Airways Privilege Club
- Finnair Plus
- Iberia Plus
- Aer Lingus AerClub
British Airways Avios can also be redeemed for air ticket upgrades, hotels, rental cars, and experiences, but these redemption options offer far less value than redeeming for flight award tickets.

Chase Iberia Visa credit card holders can earn a discount voucher of $1,000 USD to use toward two tickets on the same Iberia flight upon spending $30,000 USD in a calendar year.
Cardholders can also use their Chase Iberia Visa Signature Card to book their cash fare flight on iberia.com/Chase10 to receive a 10% discount.
