Earning WestJet Points
The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard earns WestJet points for all purchases made on the card:
- 2 WestJet points for every dollar spent on WestJet flights, WestJet Vacations, and Sunwing Vacations.
- 2 WestJet points for every dollar spent at grocery stores and on transportation, including gas, EV charging, public transit, and rideshare.
- 1.5 WestJet points for every dollar spent on all other everyday purchases.
Redeeming WestJet Points
The WestJet Rewards program offers members the ability to redeem WestJet points towards WestJet flights and WestJet Vacations packages.
To redeem WestJet points, sign in to your WestJet account when booking a flight, and you will have the option to redeem as many of your eligible WestJet points as possible.
WestJet points can be applied against the base fare cost and towards any of the additional taxes and fees that make up the remainder of the ticket cost. They can also be applied towards incidental fees such as checked baggage or seat selection fees.
Benefits
WestJet Companion Voucher
WestJet RBC World Elite cardholders are eligible to receive an annual companion voucher usable on WestJet flights. One voucher will be awarded upon approval, and cardholders can earn an additional voucher each cardholder anniversary, provided they spend $5,000 annually on their card.
Redeeming a WestJet companion voucher makes it possible to book a companion fare at a reduced rate when you pay full price for your own flight on the same itinerary. The companion voucher can be redeemed for the following destinations with the respective fees, depending on your WestJet fare class:
- Travel within Canada or the continental USA – $119 in fees for UltraBasic/Econo/EconoFlex or $219 for Premium/PremiumFlex fares (plus taxes, fees, charges, and other ATC)
- Travel to Hawaii, Mexico, or anywhere else in the WestJet network – $399 in fees for UltraBasic/Econo/EconoFlex or $499 for Premium/PremiumFlex fares (plus taxes, fees, charges, and other ATC)
WestJet RBC World Elite cardholders can also exchange their companion voucher for one of the following options:
- 30% flight discount for one traveller
- $200 credit towards a WestJet Vacations package or Sunwing Vacations package
- Two airport lounge passes
Free First Checked Bag on WestJet Flights
The cardholder will receive one free checked bag for themselves and up to 8 guests on WestJet flights, provided they are all booked on the same itinerary, and that the flight has been paid for with your WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard.
This makes the card a great way to save on WestJet baggage fees, especially if you booked a fare class that doesn’t include free checked baggage.
WestJet Status Lift Benefit
The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard offers a WestJet Status Lift benefit, in which cardholders will earn $200 in tier qualifying spend towards WestJet Rewards status for every $5,000 spent on the card in a calendar year.
Cardholders can utilize this Status Lift benefit up to 50 times per calendar year, meaning that if you were to spend $250,000 on your WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard, you would earn $10,000 in tier qualifying spend, which would earn the highest WestJet Rewards status level, Platinum status.

Insurance Coverage
The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard offers several types of insurance coverage:
- Emergency medical insurance: Coverage for the first 15 days of any out-of-province trips for travelers under the age of 65 or the first three days for those aged 65 and up
- Travel accident coverage: $500,000 of accidental death and dismemberment coverage
- Rental car collision and loss damage coverage: Comprehensive coverage for cars up to $65,000 MSRP
- Trip interruption insurance: $5,000 per covered person per trip, up to an overall $25,000 maximum
- Delayed baggage insurance: $500 per person coverage for emergency purchases when your baggage is lost or delayed, up to an overall maximum of $2,500 per occurrence
- Flight delay insurance: $250 per occurrence and per covered person for reasonable and necessary expenses, up to an overall maximum of $500 per occurrence
- Trip Cancellation Insurance
- Hotel and motel burglary insurance: $2,500 coverage for stolen items per occurrence
- Purchase security: Coverage for accidental physical damage or theft for 90 days from the date of purchase (up to $50,000 per calendar year)
- Extended warranty: Extend the manufacturer’s original warranty up to one additional year

To benefit from this offer, your application must be received and approved by Royal Bank of Canada (“Royal Bank”) between November 5, 2025 and February 4, 2026 (“Offer Period”). This offer only applies to new applications for a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard.
You will receive up to 30,000 welcome WestJet points upon your first purchase (“Welcome WestJet Points”) distributed as follows: (i) 25, 000 Welcome WestJet Points up to six (6) weeks after your first purchase transaction date; and (ii) 5,000 Welcome WestJet Points up to twelve (12) weeks after your first purchase transaction date, provided your first purchase gets posted to your WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard credit card account (“Credit Card Account”) within the first three (3) months of your Credit Card Account opening date (“Period”). The Additional WestJet Points will be awarded approximately six (6) weeks after the date you reach the Qualifying Transaction Amount. Qualifying Transactions exclude cash advances (including balance transfers, cash-like transactions and bill payments that are not pre-authorized charges that you set up with a merchant), interest charges and fees, and credits for returns and adjustments posted to your Credit Card Account during the Period will reduce the amount of your Qualifying Transactions.
The transaction posting date of each Qualifying Transaction, not the transaction date, will determine whether the transaction will count towards the Qualifying Transaction Amount. This means that Qualifying Transactions that take place prior to the last day of the Period will not count towards the Qualifying Transaction Amount if they have not yet been posted or processed by the merchant, the payment network (Mastercard) or Royal Bank by the last day of the Period. You will receive an additional 10,000 WestJet points (“Anniversary WestJet Points”) up to sixteen (16) weeks after your Credit Card Account has been open for one (1) year.
Welcome WestJet Points, Additional WestJet Points and Anniversary WestJet Points will be awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, accessible at westjet.com/account, and appear on your monthly credit card statement, provided your Credit Card Account is open and in good standing at the time they are awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, “good standing” meaning that your Credit Card Account must not be past due for more than two (2) consecutive Credit Card Account statement periods, closed, charged off or in credit revoked status at that time.
Only the primary cardholder on the Credit Card Account is eligible for this offer. Additional cardholders(s) (co-applicant and authorized user(s)), as well as existing cardholders on any RBC Royal Bank personal credit card account, transferring to a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard during the Offer Period, are not eligible for this offer.
