Remember when you would collect paper Canadian Tire Money when shopping at Canadian Tire, which could be used for a future discount?
That program still exists, except now, the Canadian Tire Triangle Rewards program is a comprehensive retail loyalty program that allows you to earn and redeem Canadian Tire Money in various spending categories. Similar to a traditional cashback program, redemptions are valued at 1 Canadian Tire Money Dollar to 1 Canadian Dollar.
There are many opportunities for earning and redeeming with Triangle Rewards, as well as some unique combinations you can apply toward your purchase for as much value back as possible.
Acquiring Canadian Tire Triangle Rewards
You can earn Triangle Rewards Canadian Tire (CT) Money through various shopping categories at Canadian Tire Money-associated stores. Additional earning opportunities, such as shopping with a Triangle Rewards-affiliated credit card and participating in bonus offers or events can help you maximize the value of your purchases.
Spending at Triangle Retailers
Triangle Rewards can be earned at various retail stores with several shopping departments. These include:
- Atmosphere
- Canadian Tire
- Mark’s
- Party City
- Petro-Canada / Gas+
- Pro Hockey Life
- Sportchek
- Participating Sport Experts stores
- Trio Hockey
- Sports Rousseau
- Hockey Experts
- L’Entrepôt
Partsource is also a Triangle partner however you can only earn Canadian Tire Money through purchases with a Triangle Credit Card.
Canadian Tire stores usually have the most diverse selection in terms of product variety, ranging from pet products to sporting equipment, and even food. Some locations have aisles dedicated to other store brands within a Canadian Tire location, like Petco and Party City.
The earning rate is not published publicly, noting that it can vary between stores. The base rate for in-store purchases at Canadian Tire seems to be 0.4% without any Triangle credit cards, app offers, or special earning promotions.
Spending on Canadian Tire Triangle Credit Cards
Canadian Tire Bank offers Triangle Rewards affiliated credit cards where users can earn bonus points whenever they shop at a Triangle Retailer. Both offerings have no annual fee and offer financing with 0% interest for purchases over $150 on qualifying purchases.
Credit Card | Triangle Stores | Fuel at Petro Canada & Gas+ | Grocery Stores | Everywhere Else |
---|---|---|---|---|
Canadian Tire Triangle World Elite Mastercard | 4% | 5c/Lback in CT Money for regular 7c/L back in CT money for premium grades | 3% back up to $12,000/year (excludes Costco and Walmart) | 1% back |
Canadian Tire Triangle Mastercard | 4% | 5c/L in CT Money | 1.5% back up to $12,000/year (excludes Costco and Walmart) | 0.5% back |
Both cards offer similar benefits in base earning rates at Triangle-affiliated stores; however, the World Elite Mastercard has a fantastic auto assistance program, making it one of the best no-annual-fee credit cards in Canada according to our evaluations.
The Canadian Tire Triangle World Elite Mastercard earns Canadian Tire Money and offers cardholders benefits such as complimentary gold membership to the Canadian Tire roadside assistance program.

Sign-up bonuses for new applicants and special earning offers exclusive to both kinds of Triangle credit card holders can appear from time to time as well.
Canadian Tire Bank also offers deposit and savings accounts, though they do not seem to offer any benefit to Triangle Rewards members.
Bonus Earning Offers
Triangle Rewards offers bonuses that you can apply to your purchases. These offers can be specific to spending in certain departments in a store or fulfilling a spending requirement at a store before earning a set amount of Canadian Tire Money back.
Most earning offer rates go up to 20x but during special events, it can be as high as 50x. Offers tend to refresh every week on Friday.
The easiest way to see these offers is to use the Triangle app, though you can access offers online through each store’s website as well. The app allows you to view all the offers available from multiple stores and filter offers by category or retailer.
If there are specific items or categories you’re shopping for but there’s no offer in your app, you can swap offers out for other ones that other Triangle members don’t want.
Bonus Point Events
Once in a while, Triangle Rewards offers bonus discounts and earnings stacked on top of activated in-app offers.
For example, a jacket on sale for $59.99 during the Max Stack Event can earn you up to $11.99 in CT Money with a 50x bonus. You can go even further with a Triangle Rewards credit card, where you can earn an additional 4% CT money back, effectively dropping the jacket’s price to about $45.60, or about 54% off the original price of $99.99.
Some promotions just have a spending requirement before you receive a set bonus.
Redeeming Canadian Tire Triangle Rewards
Canadian Tire Money
Canadian Tire Money redemptions are easy to understand: $1 in CT Money equals $1 CAD. You can redeem Canadian Tire Money at checkout in-store at Triangle retailers listed above, including Sport Chek and Atmosphere. The maximum you can redeem at a time is $1,000, which means you can no longer redeem CT Money for a $1053 ride-on lawnmower.
Canadian Tire Money redemptions are possible online, but only through Canadian Tire’s website by logging into your Triangle Rewards account, or entering your Triangle credit card number. Other retailers do not have options for online redemptions. Also, you cannot redeem CT Money on shipping and handling costs.
Redemption Events
Like bonus point offers, there are sometimes bonus offers when you redeem points. Usually, these require a certain spend before you receive a CT Money bonus back.
Tips to Maximize the Triangle Rewards Program

Petro Canada Double Dip (or Triple Dip with RBC)
Triangle Rewards members can earn 3-5% back in CT Money on Petro Canada fuel-ups. Petro Points can also be earned in addition to CT Money. If you carry a RBC Credit Card, you can also get a 3c/L discount when you pay. You can redeem Petro Points for fuel purchases but not Triangle CT Money. Occasionally, there are special earning offers for fueling up at Petro-Canada and Gas+ locations.
A few possible combinations would include:
- 3c/L back in CT Money (Triangle Rewards with no credit card) + 10 Petro Points/L + 3c/L discount with a RBC Credit Card + 3 Avion Premium points per dollar with a RBC ION+ Visa Card
- 7c/L back in CT Money (Triangle World Elite Mastercard with Premium grade) + 10 Petro Points/L
- 5c/L back in CT Money (Triangle Mastercard/World Elite Mastercard with Regular grade) + 10 Petro Points/L
Check out our article about Gas Station Loyalty Programs and Credit Card combinations you could use at other brands! Be aware that Triangle Select bonus points cannot be earned on fuel purchases.
Aeroplan eStore
Frequent Flyer eStores create unique opportunities for earning even more bonus points. Sport Chek is the only Triangle retailer that allows you to earn Aeroplan points by shopping through Aeroplan’s eStore link or web browser extension.
You can also redeem Aeroplan points for Mark’s gift cards, though the redemption rate for gift cards is generally not the most valuable way to spend points. Although Aeroplan is not affiliated with Triangle Rewards, this method allows you to squeeze as much value as possible out of your Triangle purchases.
