Earning Aeroplan Points
The CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite credit card earns Aeroplan points for all eligible purchases made on the card:
- 1.5 Aeroplan points for every dollar spent on gas, electric vehicle charging, groceries, Air Canada purchases, and Air Canada Vacations packages.
- 1 Aeroplan point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
Redeeming Aeroplan Points
Air Canada Aeroplan points are best used towards flight redemptions, whether on Air Canada or any of their partner airlines. Aeroplan bookings follow the pricing outlined in the Aeroplan Award Chart, and the best value is often found in booking partner airlines.
Flights on Air Canada can be dynamically priced, so follow our award flight booking best practices to ensure you pay the least amount of Aeroplan points possible for your next redemption.
Aeroplan points can also be redeemed for hotels, car rentals, merchandise, and gift cards. We advise against redeeming your points for these options as the value is far below what you can receive when booking flight redemptions.

Free First Checked Bag on Air Canada Flights
CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite cardholders receive a free first checked bag on Air Canada flights. This benefit extends to up to 8 guests who are traveling on the cardholder’s itinerary and is a great way to save on Air Canada baggage fees.
Earn SQC Towards Aeroplan Elite Status
For every $20,000 in net purchases on the CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite card, cardholders will receive 1,000 Status Qualifying Credits (up to a combined total maximum of 25,000 SQC per Aeroplan Member per calendar year for all SQC that may be awarded to that Aeroplan member in connection with any Aeroplan credit card held by that Aeroplan member).
