After a phenomenal stay at the Conrad Singapore Orchard, we walked a block down the street to our next destination: the Singapore EDITION.
The EDITION is a brand new hotel in Singapore, opened to the public as of November 2023. As a new hotel in one of Marriott’s most luxurious brands, we were excited to experience top-tier and modern amenities.
Read on for the details.
Booking & Check-in
I booked a Superior King guest room with an urban view, which typically charges a rate of 56,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night or around $600-900 depending on the time of year. I used two 50K Free Night Awards and paid a points top-up of 11,000 points. I requested an upgrade to a suite via email around 2-3 weeks before our stay and was informed that a note was made on the reservation.

We arrived at the hotel early, around 10:30 AM. A single staff member was manning the already open door, but they didn’t offer to handle our luggage for us.

Check-in desk agents were polite and formal. While we were not granted any complimentary upgrade, our room was available for us for an early check-in, and we were instantly provided a late check-out as well.

The decor around the lobby had the aesthetic of a polished, clean white slate. Everything was immaculate and new.
Location
The Singapore EDITION hotel is located at 38 Cuscaden Road, Singapore 249731. It is situated in a prime location in the heart of Orchard Road, one of Singapore’s most vibrant and upscale districts. Orchard Road is renowned for its shopping but also dining and entertainment options, making it a highly desirable area for visitors and locals alike.
One of the most popular shopping malls in the Orchard district is the ION Orchard, but there are also Ngee Ann City shopping center and Paragon mall located nearby.
Cuscaden Road places the Singapore Edition close to the Orchard MRT station, providing easy access to the rest of Singapore via the city’s efficient public transport system. It only takes about 20 minutes on the MRT or via Taxi/Grab to get to the popular Marina Bay area of Singapore.
Nearby Eats
There are plenty of good restaurants and food spots around the Orchard area, just to name a small few we checked out:
- Tanglin Mall: tons of food places, cafes, bakeries, and a small hawker-style food court on the lowest level.
- Little Farms Cafe: located in Tanglin Mall, this quaint cafe has very good coffee and breakfast options.
- Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar: all-day happy hour, serves beer in the morning, and has chili crab pasta.
- Hawkers’ Street @ ION: massive food court in ION Orchard Mall with plenty of local and international foods. They even had a Nachos Popcorn chicken-flavored pizza.
- Haagen Dazs: for a classic, there is an ice cream shop and cafe located at the corner of Orchard Road.
Parking
We didn’t require any parking, but valet parking was available at the property for a reasonable cost of $30 SGD daily. As well there was on-site parking for $6 SGD hourly and off-site parking for $5 SGD hourly.
Room – Superior King, Guest room, Urban view
Everything in the hotel was brand new and high-tech, including the trademark room access card of the EDITION brand. The decor throughout the hotel was extremely clean and minimalist.

While I was a tad disappointed (but also unsurprised) not to receive an upgrade, it was evident upon entering that this base-level room was extremely spacious. It’s easily a suite-sized room at some other brands.

There were two closets and a mini bar subtly contained behind white-paneled doors in the main entryway. This provided ample storage space.

The room layout resembled the Storico Suite I’d stayed in at the Hotel Verte, Autograph Collection in Warsaw. There was a large main room with massive floor-to-ceiling windows. Then, wrapped around behind the supporting wall was the bathroom vanity, shower, and toilet.

The main room was minimal and felt spacious as a result, with a small desk with two chairs, and a lounging/reading chair on the opposite side. There was a ton of space on the window ledge that spanned the length of the room.

Above the small desk was the TV. We didn’t spend much time watching TV, but I will say the positioning was slightly awkward for watching from bed, even though the angle was adjustable. Left on the table for us was a nice message from the Guest Relations Team, as well as some treats as a welcome gift.

The lighting controls for the room were well-designed and easy to operate from either side of the bed. This was easily the most impressive hotel room window I’ve experienced, having precise control of sheer, drapery, and shutter.
Equally impressive was the bathroom…

The gold trim with white amenities maintained the minimal but elegant vibe of the room. The shelf under the vanity was a great idea to save counter space.

The bathtub and waterfall shower were in a shared room and it was massive. A nice simple design that was easy to appreciate, not to mention functional.
Bidet
Every once in a while a toilet comes along that is deserving of its own section in a blog post. The toilet in this room is one of them.

This thrown was a Toto Washlet bidet. It had impeccable toilet roll placement and a nice ledge.
The lid automatically opens and the seat warms up when you open the door. My only single complaint was its somewhat noisy and frequent self-cleaning function. Rating: 1.93/2.
Restaurants & Bars
Lobby Bar
The EDITION had a very unique lobby bar with a vibrant pink theme throughout. Even the felt on the pool table was pink colored.

We visited the lobby bar for a couple of cocktails. The menu had one page of traditional cocktails, one page of “signature scents” (floral cocktails), and one page of light bites.
We stopped by the lobby bar on the first evening of our stay for a couple of drinks. I had the Ambrette Old Fashioned, while my girlfriend had the OBA.

Both were delicious. The Old Fashioned had a twist on the traditional garnish with a candied orange peel.
The Rooftop
The Rooftop is a rooftop patio and bar on the top floor of the EDITION, adjacent to the rooftop pool.

We spent some time at the pool each day of our stay, but did on one occasion visit the Rooftop for drinks and bar snacks.

I ordered the EDITION’s own Lioness Session IPA which was quite nice. My girlfriend ordered the Elderflower and said it was very refreshing.
The soundtrack at the Rooftop had a great selection of beach music.
Punch Room

The Punch Room is a global EDITION-specific bar concept, of which this one is the 7th. The bar has dark suede blue decor and serves exclusively punch cocktails for $27 SGD each.

We intended to visit Punch but had a night that went too late and missed the opportunity. You can see some of the vibes to expect on the Punch Room EDITION Instagram account and check out their menus here.
In-room Dining
The in-room dining menu looked fairly comprehensive and the prices weren’t unreasonable for Singapore.
We contemplated ordering breakfast here one morning. However, the options were a bit generic so we went to some local restaurants instead.
FYSH
Currently the only formal restaurant available at the hotel, FYSH is a high-end seafood steakhouse with a renowned chef imported from Australia, Josh Niland.

We didn’t eat here during our stay. Admittedly, dinner at this place was a little outside our budget, especially knowing that we would soon be in Thailand where our money would go so much further.
Facilities
Fitness Center
The EDITION gym was sizable and had an assortment of machines (manufactured by TechnoGym) as well as a separate room for yoga and stretching.

There were all the essentials of a quality hotel gym, including towels, water bottles, fruit, and even a private bathroom with another bidet toilet.

I didn’t notice any showers, but perhaps I missed them.
Pool
As mentioned, the EDITION had a large pool on the top floor (The Roof). The pool was exquisite and had ample seating both around the pool and in the shallow end of the pool.

The pool looked even more stunning at night, although it’s only open into the evening on the weekends.

We visited the pool several times. It was unheated and a bit cold with the breeze even when the outside temp was 25-30 Celsius. Thus, I recommend visiting it at midday when it’s sunny if you can.
Spa
The EDITION had a full-service spa with a variety of unique services. They were rather outrageously priced, however.

Learn more, view the menu, and make reservations here.
Conclusion
The Singapore EDITION is a gorgeous property with a captivating design consistent with other EDITION properties I’ve stayed at, such as the Reykjavik EDITION. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, including the room and on-property amenities which were impeccable.
Since we didn’t eat here during our stay, I can’t comment on the quality of the food offerings aside from the cocktails, which were great. Still, I would expect the restaurants to impress as much as the rest of the hotel.
