Booking with ultra-low-cost airlines can be a great way to reduce your flight costs, leaving you with more money to spend on the rest of your vacation. However, these ultra-low-cost carriers, like Flair Airlines, often come with a ton of fees that can be difficult to avoid if you are not aware of them.

Letโ€™s take a look at Flair Airlines, their baggage fees, and how you can save money on baggage for your next Flair flight.

Flair Airlines Overview

Flair Airlines is a Canadian ultra-low-cost airline that offers affordable flights across North America. While ticket prices can be found on an incredibly tight budget when flying Flair, they also charge significant fees for checked and carry-on baggage.

Understanding these fees can help passengers avoid unexpected costs and ensure a smooth and stress-free travel experience during their next vacation.

Flair Airlines Cabin Baggage Fees

Flair Airlines allows passengers to bring one personal item on board for free, such as a purse or small backpack, or laptop bags. This personal item or personal bag must not exceed the size limit of 6โ€ x 13โ€ x 17โ€ or the weight limit of 15.5 lbs. This is the only free baggage allowance available for all Flair Airlines flights.

However, carry-on baggage fees are charged for larger items, such as a standard carry-on suitcase. The fee for a carry-on bag varies depending on the type of fare purchased and whether the bag is added to the reservation online or at the airport.

When paying online in advance, bag fees for carry-on baggage will run from $29-$59 per flight and per passenger. On the other hand, paying at the airport commands a much higher fee of $59-$64 per flight and per passenger. This is much different than Sunwing Airlines baggage fees, where carry-on baggage is charged at a flat rate.

It is important to note that your carry-on bag must not exceed the size limit of 9″ x 15.5″ x 21″ or the maximum weight limit of 22 lbs. All carry-on bags must fit in the overhead bins or under the seat in front of the passenger.

Flair Airlines Checked Baggage Fees

Flair Airlines charges a fee for each checked bag that is added to a passenger’s reservation. The fee depends on the date of departure and whether it is a domestic or international flight.

For your first and second checked bags, there is a fee of $44-$69 per flight and per passenger, when purchasing online. If you pay the fee at the airport it will be much higher, around $79-$84 per flight and per passenger.

If you are traveling with more than two checked bags, any additional checked bags past two will incur a higher fee of $54-$109 per flight and per passenger when paying online, or a fee of $89-$114 per flight and per passenger when paying at the airport.

It is important to note that Flair Airlines has a size limit of 62โ€ in total linear dimensions and a maximum weight limit of 50 pounds (23 kg) per bag. If a bag exceeds these limits, an overweight or oversized baggage fee is charged in the amount of $99 per flight and per passenger. This is quite expensive, so it is important to pack carefully and weigh bags before arriving at the airport to avoid any oversized bags and fee surprises.

How to Save Money on Flair Airline Baggage Fees

While there are no credit cards that offer free baggage on Flair Airlines, such as how you can save on Air Canada baggage fees and WestJet baggage fees, there are some ways that you can save money on baggage for your next Flair flight.

The best way to avoid baggage fees is to pack light and bring only what is necessary when flying on Flair Airlines. If you do need to check baggage, ensure you are weighing your bags before you arrive at the airport to ensure you donโ€™t get dinged extra for overweight baggage at check-in.

If you must fly with checked or carry-on luggage, it is much cheaper to pay the fee online than to pay at the airport on the day of travel. If you have flown with any other ultra-low-cost carriers, like Swoop Airlines, you are no doubt familiar with this process and are aware of the money that can be saved by planning and paying ahead.

Flair Airlines also offers bundles that can combine carry-on and checked baggage if you are flying with multiple pieces of luggage; this can be a great way to save money if it fits your needs.

Ultimately, saving money on Flair Airlines baggage fees comes down to being a smart traveler and planning in advance. Learning to pack light is my biggest tip, as this will pay dividends when it comes to making your travel experience smoother and less costly. Conclusion

If you are going to be flying on Flair Airlines, recognize that they are an ultra-low-cost carrier and as such, charge fees for checked and carry-on baggage. These fees will vary depending on the destination, fare type, and when the extra baggage fee is paid, so be aware that you might need to spend more than just the base cost of your ticket.

By being aware of these fees, and what you can do to reduce the overall cost, you can ensure a smooth and stress-free travel experience during your next vacation with Flair Airlines.

  1. I have been trying for two hours to pay for my baggage in advance with Flair Air, for one carry-on. They only offer “bundles” including a larger suitcase, too, for $49. They didn’t even give me my reservation number initially. Only when I started swearing on the chat with the bot did they send me that. Then there was no way to get to the baggage add-on. Initially, my flight could not even be confirmed, so I fell asleep waiting late at night. I am trying to get my carry-on at a good price, but Flair Air has created circular loops that make this impossible, and treat humans like dogs. I am NOT a happy customer. This kind of treatment of human beings has to stop.
