The Complete Guide to World of Hyatt Globalist Status

While many miles and points enthusiasts focus on Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors as their two main hotel loyalty programs, World of Hyatt is a shining light in a world of devaluations and excessive dynamic pricing in hotel loyalty programs.

World of Hyatt has a much smaller footprint worldwide, but also has many desirable and exclusive properties available to book within their portfolio. Not to mention, their loyalty program is generous with free nights and status benefits that are unmatched by other hotel chains.

Let’s take a look at the highest status level in the program, World of Hyatt Globalist status, to see the benefits it offers and how you can get yourself on the track to earning this top-tier status.

What is World of Hyatt Globalist Status?

The World of Hyatt loyalty program has four levels of status: Member, Discoverist, Explorist, and Globalist. Globalist is the highest status level in the program, and as a result, comes with the best benefits when staying at World of Hyatt properties.

Earning Globalist status requires the member to fulfill one of two requirements in a calendar year:

  • Stay 60 nights at World of Hyatt resorts and hotels in calendar year (cash stays or free night award redemptions)
  • Earn 100,000 base points by spending at World of Hyatt resorts and hotels in a calendar year
    • Base points are earned at a rate of 5 points per $1 USD spent regardless of status level. Bonus points earned do not count towards this goal.

Once Globalist status is earned, the member will be able to enjoy it for at least 14 months as the status persists for the current year, the following year, and then until the end of February of the year following. For example, If I earn Globalist status in June 2024, I will retain it until the end of February 2026.

World of Hyatt Globalist Status Benefits

At the top-tier Hyatt elite status level, Hyatt Globalist members can expect to receive the most and best benefits. They will automatically receive any and all benefits that were earned at the Discoverist and Explorist levels, such as waived resort fees on World of Hyatt free night awards.

The most notable Hyatt Globalist benefits are that members can receive complimentary upgrades to standard suites, late check-out up to 4:00 PM, complimentary club lounge access or complimentary breakfast at Hyatt hotels for up to 2 adults and 2 children on the booking, free parking on free night redemptions, and priority access to hotel rooms when checking in early.

Globalist members also receive access to a dedicated “My Hyatt Concierge” agent. This may be of some value to certain members, but typically experiences with concierge services aren’t worth writing home about.

Additional details on these benefits can be found here.

Milestone Rewards

While not unique to Globalist status, I think it’s worth mentioning Hyatt’s “Milestone Rewards” feature as you will earn some of these on your way to Globalist. Milestone Rewards are earned starting at 20 qualifying nights or 35,000 base points in a calendar year, and continue for each additional 10 qualifying nights, up to 150 nights total.

Milestone rewards include automatically awarded benefits on certain tiers, whereas all tiers also give members the option to choose the benefit they would value the most. Benefits include things such as “Guest of Honor” awards, additional points, suite upgrade awards, experience credits, and free night awards.

While these are not directly earned from Globalist status, they will be earned on your journey there and do incentivize further staying at Hyatt properties once you have earned status in a year! Milestone Rewards can be quite valuable to improve the quality of your Hyatt stays, so ensure you are taking full advantage of this feature.

How to Earn World of Hyatt Globalist Status

There are a few methods to consider if you want to earn World of Hyatt Globalist status, however, they all boil down to either staying nights at Hyatt properties or spending money at Hyatt properties or on a World of Hyatt credit card. There are no easy paths to World of Hyatt status like those that exist for Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status or Hilton Honors Diamond status!

Stay at World of Hyatt Properties

Similar to other hotel loyalty programs, the most straightforward way to earn Globalist status is to stay at World of Hyatt properties. Globalist status requires staying 60 nights in a calendar year, and both cash rate stays and free night award redemptions count towards these nights.

As with any hotel loyalty program, there are a number of lower-end properties that might be a good fit for mattress running your way towards Hyatt elite status. You can easily see all World of Hyatt category one properties here and start searching for the cheapest rates if you plan to be in an area with a cheap property nearby. For example, a quick search found a Hyatt Place in Dallas that costs $73 USD per night.

If you have an excess of Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you might consider transferring them to World of Hyatt for mattress run redemptions if you are close to reaching Globalist status.

Spend at World of Hyatt Properties

If you find yourself booking cash rates at expensive Hyatt properties but don’t actually stay that many nights, spending money to earn World of Hyatt Globalist status might be the best way to proceed.

Globalist requires earning 100,000 base points in a calendar year through spending at Hyatt properties. Base points are earned at a rate of 5 points per $1 USD spent, which means you will need to spend $20,000 USD in a year at Hyatt properties in order to earn status this way.

For most members, this is not the preferred way to earn status as it requires much more organic spending at Hyatt than a typical 60 nights would cost, especially if you consider various promotions that are offered through World of Hyatt to increase your qualifying night earning rate.

Spend on World of Hyatt Co-Branded Credit Cards

Individuals who hold either of the Chase World of Hyatt co-branded credit cards have a unique opportunity to earn qualifying nights towards status simply by spending on the card. For Canadians who have access to US credit cards, both of these cards can be accessed with an ITIN.

The Chase World of Hyatt credit card grants 5 qualifying nights annually simply for holding the card. Cardholders can also earn an additional 2 qualifying nights for every $5,000 USD spent on the card, with no cap on the number of nights that can be earned.

Is Chasing World of Hyatt Globalist Status Worth It?

While I’ve been a bit slow to enter the World of Hyatt program, one of our contributors, Daniel, enjoys World of Hyatt Globalist status regularly during his vacations and speaks very highly of the program. From complimentary breakfast, free parking, suite upgrades, and a reasonable points redemption rate, he has previously covered excellent stays at the Galleria Vik Milano and Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin both of which were improved thanks to his Globalist status.
