Our Thoughts On The New BMO Porter Airlines Co-Branded Credit Cards
Previously, only Air Canada and WestJet offered co-branded airline credit cards, so the Porter Airlines co-branded credit cards now offered by BMO add another layer of competition in the Canadian credit card market. This is an excellent development for consumers, as more choice and competition tend to lead to better products, and the Porter Airlines co-branded credit cards have come out of the gate swinging.
As a Canadian, the VIPorter loyalty program is worth paying even more attention to now than ever before, as you can now earn VIPorter points simply by swiping a credit card and without needing to fly on Porter Airlines.

The fact that you can earn the mid-tier VIPorter Venture status, which would normally require $3,000 spent on Porter Airlines flights (excluding taxes and fees), simply for holding the BMO VIPorter World Elite Mastercard is an excellent value proposition. VIPorter status is valuable and can result in significant savings when flying Porter Airlines through the perks it offers.
Even better, the benefits earned by that status apply to the cardholder and up to eight guests on the same itinerary, making it a great choice for families or friends who often travel together.
We believe that both of these cards are excellent additions to the Canadian marketplace and that BMO has exceeded our expectations as to what we had in mind when we first heard that these new products would be launching.
Conclusion
We are excited to see two new airline co-branded credit cards on the market and are impressed with the bonuses and benefits that are being offered. Simply put, if you are a regular Porter Airlines passenger, this is a credit card worth considering.
With quite a few members of the Frugal Flyer team already having positive experiences with Porter Airlines, there is no doubt a few of us will be looking to add one of these new cards to our wallet sooner rather than later.
