It’s always nice to have additional options to earn credit card rewards in Canada. Chexy is a service we’ve talked about previously, which allows you to pay rent using a credit card, thus earning points for one of the largest monthly expenses a person can have. At the same time Chexy presents a great opportunity for meeting credit card minimum spending requirements.
Recently, Chexy has come out with some exciting news and updates to their platform that are worth talking about. These include enabling new types of payments that can be made on the platform, a new everyday partnership, and a limited-time promotional offer that can earn you some of your favorite travel points!
Read on for the details.
Chexy is Not Just for Rent Anymore
When Chexy first came to market it was focused exclusively on rent payment services. However, current users of Chexy may have noticed some new types of payments available within their dashboard. These include:
- Other types of recurring fixed payments like utilities, memberships, etc
- One-time payments for bills with variable pricing
- Income taxes to the CRA or Revenu Quebec

With this addition, which took effect March 18, Chexy now enters the same market as other payment services like Plastiq and Paysimply. However, as shown in the table below, Chexy has more competitive processing fees, which makes it quite attractive for these types of payments.
Chexy | Plastiq | PaySimply | |
---|---|---|---|
Canadian Credit Cards | 1.75% | 2.90% | 2.50% |
International Credit Cards | 2.50% | 2.90% | 2.50% |
This is an exciting move for Chexy, and as someone who has bill payments that can’t be paid with a credit card typically (for example: property taxes), I’ll definitely be making use of Chexy’s new payment types in the near future.
Chexy is Now an Aeroplan Everyday Partner
As of today, April 15, Chexy has become an Aeroplan Everyday Partner. Aeroplan Everyday Partners allow you to earn Aeroplan points on purchases you make “every day”. Thus, Chexy is an obvious candidate for the partnership.
Whether you’re aiming for your next flight or stacking points for a business class upgrade, this partnership makes it easier (and more rewarding) to get there.
To celebrate this new partnership, Chexy and Aeroplan are offering a limited time points earning promotion where you can earn up to 10,000 additional Aeroplan points after meeting certain requirements.
Limited-time Offer: Earn Up to 10,000 Additional Aeroplan Points with Chexy
Here’s everything you need to know about the limited-time offer and how to start earning Aeroplan points with Chexy:
- Earn 2,000 Aeroplan points on your first payment with Chexy
- Earn 5,000 Aeroplan points after spending $5,000 through Chexy
- Earn 2,000 Aeroplan points when you add 4 recurring bills
- 500 Aeroplan points for the second and subsequent recurring bills within 6 months (up to 2,000 points total)
- Earn 1,000 Aeroplan points on your 12th consecutive month of payments with Chexy
This offer is valid between April 15 to July 15 which means spending requirements and addition of bill payees must occur during that period. To participate, Chexy users will be able to connect their Aeroplan account to their Chexy account when they get to the Subscriptions page in their dashboard.
Ways to Maximize Your Aeroplan Points With Chexy
While 10,000 Aeroplan points is nice and all … it doesn’t stop there! You can earn even more Aeroplan if you pair Chexy with an Aeroplan credit card, many of which earn 1x or even 1.25x in Aeroplan points per dollar spent.

For example, let’s say you’re paying:
- $2,050 in rent
- $500 for a car lease
- $200 for insurance
- $200 for utilities
That’s $2,950/month, or $35,400/year in spend—which translates to at least 35,400 Aeroplan points annually, just from bills you’re already paying. Add in the limited-time offer of 10,000 and that’s over 45,000 points earned!
And this is just the beginning. Add more eligible payments (like childcare, tuition, or property taxes), and your points balance will grow even faster.
If you’ve got an Aeroplan credit card earning 1 point per dollar or more, this is one of the easiest ways to turn everyday expenses into award flights, upgrades, or even a business class ticket.
Conclusion
Chexy continues to upgrade their platform and innovate in the payment services industry. This new Aeroplan partnership is a prime example of that innovation, and is especially welcome in the miles & points community, where Aeroplan points continue to be amongst the most desirable points currencies for Canadians.
If you’re not already using Chexy to earn points, definitely consider signing up today!
