RBC Avion to Asia Miles 15% Transfer Bonus Now Available

Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is a program I haven’t ever been overly involved in, and I’m sure many Canadians feel the same, as earning Asia Miles can be difficult. While we do have the Neo Cathay World Elite Mastercard, the only other options for earning are transferring from Membership Rewards (at a rate of 1:0.75) or transferring from RBC Avion (at a rate of 1:1).

Thus, when a transfer bonus from Avion points to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles comes around, it’s an intriguing proposition as it can be a good opportunity to build your balance and make some unique redemptions that are typically only possible with Asia Miles.

Let’s take a look at RBC’s latest transfer bonus to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles and how you can benefit.

Transfer RBC Avion Points to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles With a 15% Transfer Bonus

RBC Avion points can be transferred to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles with a 15% transfer bonus from September 14 to October 16, 2026.

The normal Avion point to Asia Mile transfer ratio is 1:1, meaning this bonus will increase it to 1:1.15. Thus, for every 10,000 Avion points you transfer during this bonus, you will receive 11,500 Asia Miles.

We tend to see transfer bonuses from Avion to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles far less frequently than transfer bonuses from Avion points to British Airways Avios. With that in mind, if you are interested in building an Asia Miles balance and have spare Avion points, this is definitely the time to transfer, as it is unlikely we will see a better transfer bonus available.

In order to take advantage of this transfer bonus, sign in to your RBC online banking account, navigate to the RBC Avion Rewards section, and click ‘Travel’. Scroll to the bottom of this screen to see all frequent flyer transfer programs (or just click here).

Simply go through the steps on that page, which involve selecting your desired transfer partner, entering your frequent flyer number, and the number of points you wish to transfer. A minimum of 10,000 Avion points must be transferred to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles at a time.

Note that the calculation of points that you will receive when processing the transfer on RBC’s website does not include the transfer bonus amount, but you will receive it in your Asia Miles account as long as you initiate the transfer during the promotional period.

While the terms and conditions do mention that transfers may take up to four weeks, it is usually much quicker. Once the transfer is completed, you will see the activity and miles in your Asia Miles account.

Is It Worth It To Transfer Avion Points to Asia Miles?

No different than many frequent flyer programs, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles has seen many changes over the years. Lately, they’ve increased award prices and fuel surcharges only seem to be going higher with the conflicts happening elsewhere in the world. Unfortunately, prices only seem to increase across the board, but it doesn’t make it a bad frequent flyer program.

If you are looking to travel to Asia, particularly on Cathay Pacific metal, this is a great program to consider. Cathay Business Class on the A350 is an excellent product, complete with a great seat and excellent food and beverage offerings.

If you want to splurge, Cathay Pacific First Class on the Boeing 777-300ER would be considered one of the most aspirational experiences in the sky. Enjoy a massive seat complete with a buddy seat, enabling you to enjoy caviar and high-end champagne with your travel companion.

As Cathay Pacific is a member of oneworld, Asia Miles also unlocks some redemption opportunities on popular partner airlines, including British Airways and Japan Airlines. In fact, redeeming Asia Miles for British Airways flights can result in heavily discounted taxes and fees or cheaper award ticket pricing.

For my travel goals and desires, I value the other two main Avion transfer partners, British Airways Avios and American Airlines AAdvantage, more than Asia Miles, so the transfer bonus is a pass for me. But it’s still a great deal if the Asia Miles program fits your travel plans.
