While the Air Canada Aeroplan loyalty program is often most used for flight redemptions, members can redeem Aeroplan points for other travel expenses including hotel stays and car rentals. However, these redemptions can oftentimes be poor value compared to flight redemptions and as a result, we tend to advise against them.
However, Aeroplan’s HotelSavers program is a bit different in that it can actually provide some niche value for your Aeroplan points if you are deadset on using them for a hotel stay. Understanding the Aeroplan HotelSavers program will give you the opportunity to ensure you are maximizing your Aeroplan points, even on an unconventional redemption like a hotel stay.
Let’s take a look at the Aeroplan HotelSavers program to explore what you need to know before your next redemption.
What are Aeroplan HotelSavers?
Aeroplan HotelSavers is a program offered through the Aeroplan loyalty program in which members can receive exclusive point redemption rates on a variety of hotel brands around the world. Members can receive up to 30% lower rates when redeeming their Aeroplan points towards stays at certain properties.
Through HotelSavers, customers can either use Aeroplan points to cover their entire stay or opt to use a combination of Aeroplan points and cash.
What Hotel Brands Participate in Aeroplan HotelSavers?
Aeroplan HotelSavers includes 48 hotel and resort brands that are segregated based on luxury brands, premium brands, and midscale & economy brands. Pricing for a hotel stay is related to the hotel brand, as the more luxury and premium brands will cost more per night than a basic hotel stay.
Luxury Brands
The Aeroplan HotelSavers program includes 16 luxury brands that capture some of the best hotels in the world.
Customers can book stays at Fairmont Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels, Shangri-La, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Loews Hotels, Taj Hotels, Kimpton Hotels, Sofitel, Regent, Faena, SLS, Capella, Patina, Lotte Hotels, and Palazzo Versace.
Premium Brands
The Aeroplan HotelSavers program includes 19 premium brands which are just a notch below the luxury brands listed above.
Customers can book stays at Le Germain Hotels, Omni Hotels, Noble House Hotels, Crowne Plaza Hotels, Outrigger, Hotel Indigo, Pullman, M Gallery, Voco, Escad Hotels, Hualuxe, Even Hotels, Highgate, Corner Collection, Thon Hotels, Blueberry Hospitality, The Ascott, 21c Museum Hotels, and Swissotel.
Midscale & Economy Brands
If you are looking for a clean and reasonably priced hotel for your next getaway, the Aeroplan HotelSavers program includes 13 midscale & economy brands.
Customers can book stays at Coast Hotels, Novotel Hotels, Alt Hotels, Holiday Inn Hotels, Candlewood Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Atwell Suites, Avid, MAMA Shelter, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Ibis, and Ibis Styles.
Aeroplan HotelSavers Award Chart
The Aeroplan HotelSavers program has an award chart that puts each hotel into a specific category which is associated with an Aeroplan points range for each night of the stay. Aeroplan point redemption costs in the HotelSavers program can range from 10,000 points to 105,000 points per night.
As expected, the more expensive or higher-end hotels are typically placed within the higher categories and as a result, will cost more points per night.
Aeroplan HotelSavers 4th Night Free Benefit
Until December 31, 2024, Aeroplan members who hold an eligible co-branded Aeroplan credit card are able to take advantage of a 4th night free benefit when booking through the HotelSavers program.
In order to take advantage, customers need to book a consecutive four night stay at the same property and redeem Aeroplan points towards their stay. When making the booking, customers will only be charged for the nights that points are being redeemed towards and will receive the eligible night free of charge automatically.
There are a number of Aeroplan co-branded credit cards that are eligible for this benefit, including those issued by American Express Canada, TD Canada Trust, and CIBC.

Are Aeroplan HotelSavers Worth It?
As always, we highly recommend redeeming your Aeroplan points mainly for flights. While redeeming for flights takes a bit more finesses and practice (including being aware of the best practices when booking award flights), it does unlock some unique experiences such as Lufthansa First Class, Air Canada Signature Class, and Etihad Airways Business Class (A350) plus many more. You will also get the most possible value by redeeming your Aeroplan points for flights.
However, if you find yourself with too many Aeroplan points to reasonably redeem on flights, the HotelSavers program is a neat feature that can generate some strong value, particularly with the current 4th night free offer. As always, the best use for your points is what fits your travel plans the best, so understanding all of the options available for redemption is important before pulling the trigger on any booking.
Conclusion
The Aeroplan HotelSavers program is a unique feature of a loyalty program that is already loved by Canadians. While many frequent flyer programs give their members the chance to redeem their points for hotel stays, Aeroplan has taken it even further by giving their members the chance to not only redeem but to get free nights when redeeming as well.
If you find yourself with a glut of Aeroplan points, the HotelSavers program is not a bad redemption option by any means.
